User Story
As a a Data Manager, I want guidance on how to publish new versions of a dataset resource on Inventory so that I can publish new versions without breaking links or losing valuable revision history.
Background
Many datasets are temporal, in that contain data to a specific time period. Usually, new datasets are published regularly. A great example GSA's Per Diem Rates which is updated each year.
Should each year be treated as a new dataset? Should you append new data to the existing dataset? Should the new year be an additional resource on the existing dataset? Are there specific scenarios where you might choose a different strategy depending on the application?
Does CKAN support revisions of a resource/dataset that allows users to retrieve older versions?
CKAN supports relationships between datasets, can this help address the problem?
Security Considerations (required)
None for the research. Any additional issues that come out of this research will document any security considerations.
