Description

Hello,
Ultimately, I am wondering how to use 'download visible' on the overture maps explorer to download transportation info(geometry and attributes).

Divisions, Base, Transportation, and Buildings layers were selected in the Overture Maps Explorer, with Transportation being highlighted in black. I navigated to 'Explore Overture'->'Paris Roads' and zoomed in a bit(see screenshot X) and then pressed 'Download Visible', which yielded only Buildings features(see screenshot Y). Since the transportation layer was highlighted in black I thought I would get roadway links. I've tried this a number of ways and in different locations like the USA, including only selecting the transportation layer, and NOT selecting the buildings layer, but I always get only buildings features.

What browser are you seeing the problem on? What version are you running?

Google Chrome: Version 130.0.6723.117 (Official Build) (64-bit)

The OS you're using

Windows 10 Pro

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to https://explore.overturemaps.org/#19.9/48.8612245/2.3581701/15.3/12 Divisions, Base, Transportation, and Buildings layers should be selected with transportation highlighted in black. I did not select these settings, they were like that when I opened the site.
  2. click on paris roads, from the explore overture left sidebar
  3. zoom in to a level where ''download visible' is available
  4. click 'download visible'
  5. geojson file should end up in a downloads folder
  6. load geojson file into qgis(or another spatial viewer) to see only the buildings geometry and attributes are there.

Thank you for the report - this has been a problem since the inception of the explore site and is the main reason why we're still in 'Beta'!

We will be releasing a version that actually downloads everything very soon. Please stay tuned, it will be just a matter of days or weeks.

Hi again @andrewlordking - we have a new version of the site in what we're calling a 'canary' build- you can try it out at https://explore.overturemaps.org/canary

That should download data for any visible themes/types you have checked, not just buildings. Also, the data is current from the November release we just made last week.

Thanks! Canary works well for me. Does canary have lane information? segment and connector layers do not appear to have it.
