we are running into problems when capturing screenshots of of websites playing mp4. Are the codecs needed to play video built into this version of chromium? I read on some stack overflow posts this may be required.

I have no idea, is this possible using the regular distribution of chromium in puppeteer? There might just be args you need to change. I think puppeteer might ship with one disabling Auto play.
