Are redstone conduits still not functional?

I'm trying to figure out how to use Redstone Conduits. All the documentation talks about Input and Output in the GUI, and to put the Counting Filter into the Output slot, but the Redstone Conduit GUI only has Insert and Extract, just like the Item and Fluid Conduits. It seems like Extract would be like Output, but I can't put the Redstone Counting filter into the Output slot, only the Input slot. I'm trying to get my Obsidian generator to not insert lava into the stone barrel if I already have X items, but it doesn't seem to register.

I have used the wrench to connect the Redstone Conduit to both a Create tank of lava and a Limited Barrel from Sophisticated Storage (I'm playing Sky Factory 5 which has Ender IO 6.2.7-beta). I have set the counter Filter to one more than the barrel currently contains and I'm using the Orange channel. I then put it into the Insert slot of the connection to the Limited Barrel and checked the Insert checkbox. Then, the Fluid Conduit extract tab on my lava tank I have set to Redstone High on Orange, but it never activates. If I have it set to low, then it never deactivates.

Is this still not implemented yet? I saw a video stating that it was expected to be working just a couple days after the video, so I thought it would be done now, but I do see that 6.2.7-beta is 7 months old, so maybe it isn't going to be added there?
