Installing a game + wrapper on a USB hard drive #568
Comments
Copy the generated wrapper to your external media and run it from there. |
It gives me a warning, saying that I can't run the wrapper in an external drive. All wrappers, it said, must be from the C:drive. |
|
That error is referring to the application/game not being installed into the wrappers drive_c, some installer default to alternative locations so WineskinApp won’t be able to detect the next exe(s) It doesn’t matter if the wrapper itself is on the main drive or an external drive, software just needs be be installed into |
Can you somehow give me step by step guidlines as to what to do and where the C:drive is: I'm soooo confused. Thanks |
Launch the Wineskin app inside the wrapper and go to the Advanced Tab and click Browse near the top right of the dialog box. All will be clear. |
.. And then what? I tried install software and it guided me back to the original starting point... I can't seem to access the wrapper's internal contents... |
The Browse button shows you exactly what you are looking for the: the contents of Drive C: in the wrapper. |
Are .msi files also available or is it just .exe files? |
Ok Warframe is a weird one. The The fist time Warframe.msi is launched it asked you where it’s to download to, you can simply select anywhere in C:. I’d recommend firstly making a Folder and moving Warframe.msi into that then selecting “Copy a Folder Inside” select your pre-prepared “Warframe” Folder, now select “Warframe.msi” Move this Wrapper to your external drive, then launch and when asked select a location inside “My Computer”, (C:) now the game will download. Each launch will use Warframe.msi but that installer will pickup the location automatically and allow you to download/launch. |
Ok. I then tried the method you asked but with the .exe file. (FYI I also upgraded the wrapper to 3.0.2, idk if that helps) There was an improvement, saying that the application is installing on the C:drive, and it also launched the inital update installing sequence, but then after that it checked for new contents (which happens every time you launch the game, it is normal for both new and returning players) and then just went error. It said, hard drive not enough space, and then a number that seems to be random, about 17-20 GB required. But then the wrapper is in a USB file, which currently has over 119GB available, which, by my calculations, is a lot more than 17-20 GB. I'm lost... @Gcenx Please help! |
Is there any way (possible or upcoming) so that you can use the wrapper inside of a USB stick? I've tried installing warframe on my Mac, but I only have got 29GB left while the game requires 50GB. Is there a way to just launch the game (Warframe.msi) inside of my USB stick, which has over 100GB available?
