Bahasan utama jurusan MIPA adalah pengetahuan alam dimana kemampuan mengamati dan mengekspresikan dalam bentuk yang ilmiah adalah wajib, karena dengan karya ilmiah sebuah penelitian akan diakui, dianggap dan dipercaya. 

Bahasan utama Teknik Informatika adalah data dimana pengolahannya paling efektif menggunakan bahasa pemrograman tertentu mulai dari low level language sampai high level language, tergantung lingkup permasalahannya. Sebuah bahasa pemrograman dirancang untuk menyelesaikan masalah tertentu. 

Mahasiswa TI dituntut untuk bisa mengolah data tertentu supaya bisa menjadi informasi yang berarti dan cara terbaiknya adalah dengan memiliki kemampuan programming yang cukup.
