Summary

Ensure MVP meets basic accessibility requirements

Deadline

20th Feb

What needs to be done?

  • Meets Autism accesibility guidelines
  • Meets basic checklist:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/doing-a-basic-accessibility-check-if-you-cant-do-a-detailed-one/doing-a-basic-accessibility-check-if-you-cant-do-a-detailed-one

gov.uk has a good one

Detail

This is necessary for the MVP - but the fully-fledged plattform should have much higher standards of accesibility.
It is both a high priority of the autistic/turing project community (see community-recommendations) and necessary to meet the value of diversity and inclusion

Another useful accesibility checklist:

I like this website because it clearly acknowledges its limitation:

https://www.scope.org.uk/accessibility/

When the platform is in alpha phase we should make issues for the limitations and link this page back to the repo for community input. Also would be good to give users thee option of feeding back specifically about accesibility on this page?

@JamesSCTJ I think a brilliant start would be to add an issue for each one of the main accesibility standards. This is an MVP - so it would just need to be the basic requirements. The additional features requested by the community we will add in the next milestone.

Jiaslama has a designeed version of fairly comprehensiv accesibility settings - it would be great to include this as a starting point!

@Angelsaur - could you please look at the government accessibility guidelines/checklist in the top comment. Then can you make each item an individual issue (using the general template). Thanks!

Accessibility can be evaluated after the basic wireframe has been completed.
For now, removing the Milestone 2 tag.

Made issue #369 to create an accessibility checklist that can be used for the MVP and going forward. Closing this along with other accessibility checklist items for now.
