As discussed in the 2022-08-10 Frsca Community Call, adding checks for Developer Certificate or Origin (DCO) sign-off messages and documenting that in the CONTRIBUTING.md file would be beneficial.

Using the DCO is not a guarantee of clean licensing for contributions, but it does improve awareness and promote clarity and so is considered a good practice in the open source ecosystem.

I'm more than happy to be assigned this issue!
