I noticed that this package only comes with lolcat. This is fine if I'm reading a file as rainbow, but what if I wanted to write rainbows to a file.
I feel like taclol fits better because it fully reverses the command.
Is there any way that this could happen?

You can use --force when sending to non tty output including to a file. You can alias the command of your choice in your shells rc file.
