[Feature Request / Potential Bounty] I'd like for there to be a hyperlinked document outline to the left of the text, with the outline and footnotes being collapsible

I love having footnotes side-by-side with the text, but I also appreciate having a hyperlinked document outline (based on headers) to the left of text, such as occurs in Google Docs or on this site, for example.
Optimally, someone would build this feature for this theme. For large screen sizes, both the outline and footnotes would appear by default. As screen sizes get smaller, a user of this theme would be able to specify in _config.yml whether to first collapse the outline (which would optimally be able to be opened by a user clicking an icon) or to collapse the footnotes (into their already existing hyperlink behavior on smaller screens). On mobile, both these would have occurred, with the outline still openable via clicking (this behavior exists on the example site above).
I'm pretty financially constrained, but would potentially offer a small to moderate bounty if that will cause this to be built, and it wouldn't be otherwise.
