Folks,

Looking at for example https://k8s.devstats.cncf.io/d/8/company-statistics-by-repository-group?orgId=1

there is a Independent catch all for folks who do not have or want to disclose their affiliation. Could we add a Student similarly?

  • Do we want them to just say Student instead of their Company?
  • Do we want to allow them to specify which educational institution they are part of?

I'm open to discussions, but some time ago (rather a long time ago) we decided that Students count as Independent and many University affiliations were assigned to Independent "account".

thanks @lukaszgryglicki - hoping the k8s sig-contribex will follow up on this.

Sure, the problem will be to distinguish now which ones of those Independent are actually students.
