Need some type of guideline for how to model ordinals within the i2b2 ontology. What are the pros and cons of each?

  • as child of a concept - need to make sure basecode is unique
  • in the valueflag_cd
  • tval_char
  • compound code where the the value is attached to test code like covid tests are mapped - may be hard for etl

this is important for ontologies like SDOH with question answers

child concept is the winner. better for end user and easier to manage with ETL
