I stumbled upon --fork [url] to start ganache forking actual ethereum blockchain but was not able to fork rinkeby. It might be useful for testing local things.

Ok, seems like I can fork it using geth as initial url.

Still there are 2 problems:

  • Metamask is freezing and I'm able to connect to forked ganache chain only once
  • ColonyNetwork contracts resolver will not be able to find deployed contracts
