I have assembled high-quality, open DEM data for most of the alps in the eslope project.
Based on this I would like to generate higher quality contours (and possibly shading) for OpenTopoMap in the Alps.
Example of improved contour lines on the right (zoom 15, Mont-Blanc, based on Aoste DEM 2m resolution)
I can definitely run gdal-contour and share the result, but I think you strive to have a reproducible build, which is great, and I'm not sure how to make it so. The source data is public but quite hard to get compared with SRTM (eg millions of tiny tiles, or tiles to click one by one, or GIS servers with limited size downloads...) ; and I currently host ~60GB of the merged DEM data but this might not be forever.
Are you interested in such contribution?
Is there a script that you actually run, or should I update the README instructions and coordinate with you to actually get in on the server?
Is README information with links to eslope enough, or do you want to host DEM data as well?
