How to scale map correctly when printing

I am trying to print a map with a list of some points of interest. I am having an issue with scaling and centering the map correctly when printing it.

If the browser window is narrower than the page, it only displays the visible tiles and does not expand to fit it (see the first image). Note that the container seems to scale correctly - the attribution notice is on the right side of the page, as expected.

On large browser windows, the issue is slightly different - the printing process appears to just take the top-left of the map, rather than scaling it down for printing (see first image for how it looks in the browser, and second for how it looks in the print preview).

I'm not sure if there's a way to deal with either (or both) of these issues - I would like the map to scale to fit the available width - either scale up or down, around the centre of the map.

Apologies if I am using the incorrect terminology, I'm not fully familiar with how maplibre works.

Out of curiosity, are you using https://github.com/watergis/maplibre-gl-export or the Svelte wrapper, or just using your browser's print feature directly? I have only briefly tried that plugin and hit problems (the controls not all displaying, symbol layers missing from the output), curious if anyone's had more luck.

I am just using the browser's print feature.
