Not see the same post over and over when scrolling down through "Home", "Federated" or "Explore" timelines #1985

Once is enough. Seeing the exact same post repeated while scrolling down seems wildly unnecessary.
Aside, I really like the way elk doesn't lose scrolling position after diverting back from a thread (it does occasionally, and goes back to the start, but reloading gets it to remember again).
I haven't found a place in Mastodon to post suggestions, but I'd also like to see posts that repeat the same image or URL be tracked together... i.e. a counter of repeats shown, and like a post, clicking on that goes to all the repeated posts. The client would have to make an MD5 sum and submit that to a database where every federated server would have a binary search of that sum (ditto for normalized URL). It would also be nice when posting to have the server query the user "do you know that's been posted N times?" and allow the user to go to where it's been posted and add to that post rather than starting a new one.
Something like the old usenet style of categorization would be nice too. I know hashtags are supposed to do the same, but needs major categorization too.
