Is it possible to simulate a WG/Cavity that is periodic in 1 direction, but is of finite size in Y and Z direction using GME or PWE? I could not figure out a way to generate such geometry using Legume, because there seems to be an inherent periodicity in Z as well.

Hi, if I understand correctly, are you looking to simulate nanobeams? This issue keeps being brought up every now and then (#57), but unfortunately legume is only suited for PhC slabs.
There is one user who I can't find on github (Neelesh Kumar from University of Maryland) who has expressed interest in working on such an extension, and we have discussed about it, but it is not very trivial and I have no idea if there has been any progress.
