Coloring stuff in and keeping the z order right is extremely hard

Have to puzzle out the order of send to back, which quickly gets out of hand. Also send to back/front doesn't work sometimes.

Not sure this would be totally satisfactorily solved by adding bring forward/backward one level. I had a "lineart" portion that I wanted to keep in front and add colors behind. It was hard to even color in front of the lines. I wish they could have stayed in the front even as I made new shapes.
