suggest to create a REST API interface for the name alignment tool. #15
Comments
Please note that the current name alignment tool re-uses the GitHub web interface and associated rest APIs they rely on. And, the GitHub interface is not specifically built for taxonomic name alignment. I'd be curious to hear ideas on how to embed this high performance name alignment tool in existing tools like Arctos, Symbiota, TaxonWorks, Specify, etc. These are tools that spent years and years of tweaking to come up with a user interface that works for Collection Management folks. And, many of these tools have experienced users, users who spent many hours learning the skills to help make the tool work for them. |
I can use it as is, although if I wait a couple of weeks I would likely
find it difficult to follow the steps. It is perfectly functional as is,
but I assume a "collection management system"-agnostic API would make it
more generally usable.
