Day 8: Regular Verbs in Present Tense (-ar verbs)

On Day 8, we'll explore regular -ar verbs in the present tense, which will enable you to describe actions in the present.

Key Vocabulary:

Common -AR Verbs

  • Hablar - to speak
  • Caminar - to walk
  • Trabajar - to work
  • Estudiar - to study
  • Escuchar - to listen
  • Mirar - to watch/look
  • Comprar - to buy
  • Llamar - to call

Conjugation Pattern for -AR verbs

For example, the verb "hablar":

  • Yo hablo (I speak)
  • Tú hablas (You speak)
  • Él/Ella/Usted habla (He/She/You [formal] speak)
  • Nosotros/Nosotras hablamos (We speak)
  • Vosotros/Vosotras habláis (You all [informal] speak)
  • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes hablan (They/You all [formal] speak)

Pronunciation Tips:

  • Hablar: ah-'blahr
  • Estudiar: ehs-too-'dyahr

Exercises for Today:

  • Listening: Find YouTube videos or audio clips that focus on -ar verbs in the present tense. Listen carefully for pronunciation.
  • Speaking: Practice conjugating and using the -ar verbs in sentences. For example, "Yo hablo español" (I speak Spanish).
