Copy to clipboard not working in Gnome

Summary

Copy to clipboard with space+y (or other combinations) and pasting outside of helix is not working for me.

GNOME 47.2
tested with GNOME Terminal and GNOME Console.
both report: System clipboard provider: termcode

Copy paste works fine with nano.

What's the output of hx --health clipboard?

for both terminals "hx --health clipboard" still reports
"System clipboard provider: termcode"

You'll need to install a clipboard provider, for example wl-clipboard on Wayland or xclip or xsel on X11
