User friendly circuit names (w. merged circuits)

I have several circuits that are merged within the "Emporia Energy" app. (I merged two channels into a single circuit.)

I think the merged circuits are preventing vuegraf from displaying the circuit names that I set within the vuegraf.json configuration file.

Currently, the Individual Device Usage over Time Period graph within the Vuegraf Energy Dashboard is only displaying (2) circuits. I cannot see usage data for my remaining (9) circuits.

That said, all 11 circuits are visible the device_name column, within the Query Builder.

There are two additional command line args you can use to get more information about what's happening in Vuegraf:

--verbose provides more info about what paths the software is taking
--debug provides datapoint level data

Try verbose first because debug will really add a lot making it more difficult to watch the progress. See if that helps point you in the right direction.

Sorry. How to I view the verbose output? When I start the vuegraf container, I am including the -v parameter
sudo docker run --restart always --name vuegraf -d -v /home/pi/vuegraf:/opt/vuegraf/conf jertel/vuegraf

When I try running sudo docker exec vuegraf vuegraf.py --verbose I am told:
OCI runtime exec failed: exec failed: unable to start container process: exec: "vuegraf.py": executable file not found in $PATH: unknown

The --verbose flag caused the container to not start properly. The container's status is stuck in "Restarting (0)".

Perhaps you're on an old version. How recently did you last install or update?

I performed a git clone of the https://github.com/jertel/vuegraf.git repo on 2024-08-16. So I should have the latest build of vuegraf and influxdb.

Much better! Verbose logging is ON.

That said, there is not to much more listed in the log output.

I just updated the contents of the vuegraf.json file.

vuegraf.json now contains additional lines.
I assigned "friendly names" to all the channels listed within the docker logs vuegraf output. I then removed and recreated the vuegraf docker container.

This caused some (but oddly not all) of the items to appear in InfluxDB with the friendly device_name.

If you want to clear out the old data from before you fixed the json file you can add a --resetdatabase after the --verbose line. This will start with a fresh InfluxDB.

This is a good tip. I'll use it once all devices/channels show up with a friendly name.

Right now, all circuits/channels that have not been merged are showing up in InfluxDB with the friendly name.
The channels/circuits that have been merged, are listed using a name that does not correlate with the friendly name.

For Example:
Current Name (in influxdb): Laundry Room Electrical Panel-97
Friendly Name (in vuegraf.json): Dryer 01
