⚠️ Before posting ⚠️

  • This is a bug, not a question or an enhancement.
  • I've searched for similar issues and didn't find a duplicate.

Steps to reproduce

Update Nextcloud app
Wait and be spammed by notifications

Expected behaviour

Be silent and auto upload

Actual behaviour

It started to annoy me about "Changes to auto upload" notificatons after I did get 3.30.8 RC1 auto updated from Google Play. Have cleared cache / storage and did not help.

It should show a popup within the app and if you close this, then no further message should appear.

I'm also experiencing this issue; I click on the notification and it just brings me to settings; and disabling and re-enabling my auto upload folders doesn't prompt anything, either.

Same Problem.

Pixel 9P XL
Latest Android: Android 15. Jan 5th Security Update
Nextcloud: 3.30.8 RC1

Upload permissions are appropriate already, uploads are happening correctly but continue to get

"Changes to auto upload. Manual intervention required to re-enable auto-upload"

Here too. It's spamming multiple 'Manual intervention required to re-enable auto-upload' notifications' every few minutes. Clicking on them opens the app, but doesn't provide any way to resolve anything, and the system permissions are already correct. The first time only, it popped up a dialog in the app 'Due to new restrictions imposed by google....' but after closing that dialog there was no follow-up dialog, and the notifications continue every few minutes.

Seems to have subsided after a reboot

Same issue here. This started after last night's auto update. App comes from the play store.

Permissions are set correctly and nothing I did fixes it. We just get continuouslyurl spammed with that notification every few minutes.

Closing the popup with the "close" button doesn't help. Rebooting the phone doesn't help. Turning auto-uploads off and back on doesn't help.

This is a regression.

Edit : not sure if this is important, but I never got this notification before. I remember Google Play asking me to check for new permissions right after updating the app, and I'm pretty sure I allowed full access before starting nextcloud.

I have the same problem and never received a pop-up either. How can I enable the missing permissions?

I'm using the app from f-droid.

Oddly enough, those popups stopped since I posted my comment earlier. I have no clue what I did to make it stop...

I'm expiring the same issue on Pixel 8 on Android 15 since last night (Nextcloud 3.30.8 RC1).

Have the same issue on xiaomi 13,running android 14,since auto-update from play store some hours ago. Spamming notifications so badly, if there is no fix today, i need to uninstall

I think it's related to the the new 'media location" permission, but this permission does not show up in the apps permissions dialog.

It should be sufficient to temporarily remove notification permission from the app to stop the spamming

Same issue here:

OnePlus 10T 5G (CPH2415)
OxygenOS 14.0
Nextcloud 3.30.8 RC1

After rebooting I got the following message in the nextcloud app:

Unfortunally there was no "following dialogue" and I can't find some media location permission in app management.

Same problem here. Infobox not opening any dialog, manually granted access to media and photos, rebooted device - still being spammed.

There was a detailed info on the first notification, but no permission dialog. After that message was closed the notifications started.

Maybe I found a workaround.

  • go to app info
  • stop app
  • revoke permissions on photos and videos
  • start the app
  • go into settings > auto upload
  • click on "permissions required" and grant full permissions

At the moment the notifications seems have stopped.

Edit: I tried to reboot before but that did not help for me. Also, I'm not sure if Auto Upload still works. I took two photos after I re-granting permission but they are still not shown in the upload dialog.

Edit 2: the photos have been uploaded, still no notification. Looks good so far

Looks like the problem is fixed for me. All I did was:

Rebooting my phone
Starting Nextcloud App
Getting the message (screenshot see above)
Closing the message

No spamming for the last 32 minutes ...

Tried that, but now there is another issue. When going back into auto upload i get a notification for missing permissions, i click ok. Then it asks for image an video permissiona, i grant full access. Then again a popup for missing notifications appear at the bottom, buz clicking ok does nothing and popup does not go away.

Notification still spamming.

Maybe I have stopped and restarted the app again after re-granting the permissions. Can you try?

Same issue, OnePlus12R running android 15. Auto-updated from Google Play Store. Workarounds listed above not working for me, notifications every 10 minutes or so..

Same here, even with no auto-upload folders configured. All folders have auto-upload disabled. Still receiving notification.

Pixel 6, Android 15.
