i just found this cool app called Mushrooms XR that uses AR to get the device's position accurately. usage can be found here

its just a demo but its still pretty cool nonetheless

ARHeadsetKit is similar to that, but go far beyond 6DoF in VR. It reconstructs the user's surroundings and attempts to replicate the experience of using Hololens or smart glasses. If you have Google Cardboard, you can turn your iPhone into an AR headset. If you don't, you can still try out AR MultiPendulum, an app built with ARHeadsetKit.
