Summary or User Story

We need to build a shared understanding of how each field should be used. The goal is to identify opportunities for joyful discovery that each piece of metadata presents, and start to think about how we can take advantage of those opportunities.

For each metadata field:

What is an example of the use case for this field, for the patrons you represent?
What's a particularly good example record for this field - with more than one if there are meaningful variations?
Do you have any dreams for the kind of experiences this field can enable?

Once this input is gathered, we can use it to write indexing and UI design tickets for each field.

Here is the list of fields:

  • Titles
    • Alternative Title
    • Transliterated Title
    • Sort Title (necessary?)
  • Identifiers
    • Folder Number

Acceptance Criteria

This section can be completed by the DLS team. Some requirements to consider
including:

  • There's a document with each field and the questions above, for our stakeholders to fill out. Maybe a form?
  • Send that document to the stakeholders in #dpul-collections-planning.

First step

Create a doc.
