<p>Resort vacations are popular for their simplicity. You show up and just about everything you need is right there. But you don’t have to travel to a far-flung destination to have a memorable experience. <p>Each of our lakeside resorts has an abundance of water- or beach-based activities: go for a swim, bounce on a water trampoline, take a canoe or kayak out for a paddle, get a waterskiing or wakeboarding lesson from the resort owners, hop in a paddleboat with your kids, try windsurfing, build a sandcastle or just sink your toes into the warm sand and read a book. Go fishing from the dock or by boat. At some resorts, you can even try sailing, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and windsurfing, or go for a leisurely guided boat tour around the lake.</p>
<p>The options on land are equally abundant. Many resorts have interpretive hiking trails on site. At others you can play a game of tennis, volleyball or disc golf or try archery. Go for a bike ride. Watch the wildlife wander through: deer, foxes, turkeys and the occasional moose. Paint a scene from nature or take some photos. Enjoy a corn roast or a beach cookout.</p>
<p>Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. Sit in a Muskoka chair on the deck, dock or beach and enjoy the scenery. Soak in a hot tub. Get a massage.</p>
<p>When night falls, there are still lots of activities to enjoy. Roast marshmallows over a campfire. Star gaze or see if you can spot a bat catching its meal in the night sky. Play a board game. Watch a movie.</p>
<p>With a choice of either on-site dining rooms where a chef prepares all of your meals or self-catering cottages where you can make your own, you truly never have to leave the resort unless you want to. Some resorts even keep bees, chickens and gardens so you can enjoy hyper-local delicious honey, eggs and fresh vegetables and greens.</p>
