Allow importing text file folder structures

I have a nested folder structure of Markdown notes (exported from Joplin, into which I originally imported a similar folder structure from Dropbox Paper). It'd be nice to be able to import those notes all at once. Ideally, the notes would be automatically tagged with the names of the parent folders strung together with periods as delimeters (so as to maintain their hierarchy with the folders component.)
