SUSE Manager / Uyuni could benefit from the ability to discover new/existing unmanaged systems on the network that could be managed.
It looks like nmap https://nmap.org/ could help with that, as it can identify Operating systems + versions and scales out well.
Once the system is discovered by nmap, a mechanism to start managing the system would be ideal, Maby a way could be devised to use the returned info by nmap? Could a salt formulas be used to generate a bootstrap script & help to apply that script to the system?
I imagine network mapping could also be fed into & used/integrated into visualizations & reporting (Grafana + Prometheus).
P.S. I'm not a coder/software engineer/programmer, I am a SUSE specialist in Dell' partner software sales organization (SUSE reseller/partner). I am interested in helping improve the SUSE Manager & Uyuni product to help customer' out by suggesting product improvements. :-)
