What is the motivation for your change request?
The VIVO Ontology would be improved by providing more choices for (persistant) identifiers of research data, e.g. from citation databases and other information systems. This would make publication harvesting and disambiguation potentially easier, too.

Describe the solution you'd like
Adding all useful identifiers that were mentioned in the ID survey of the Ontology Interest Group.

Suggestions:

  • ARK (Archival Resource Key)
  • DOI (Digital Object Identifier)
  • Handle
  • OpenAlex ID
  • Wikidata ID
  • PURL (Persistent Uniform Resource Locator)
  • URN (Uniform Resource Name)
  • Google Open Data

Describe alternatives you've considered
Add some of these here and move the others to new issues.
