Just a question - is there a utility for reading historical monthly or, preferably, daily sea ice area?

Hello!

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a function to read sea-ice area data automatically. However, there a few Python tools listed on this page for reading sea-ice volume data that may be helpful: PIOMAS. I will be sure to share any utilities for reading sea ice data when I see them. Another option is to use a FTP reader, e.g., see L25-32: NSIDCseaice_quartiles.py
