Improved gamepad support, improvements to the Training Menu and Creature Editor, and new Level Icons!

image

The training menu has a fancy new level scroller, you can arrow left and right to select any level in your current region.

Level buttons now include level icons to give you a hint about what surprises the level has in store! This should help you get further in Career Mode so you can avoid specific mechanics you don't like.

The creature editor now includes a gamepad-friendly color picker. A mouse and keyboard still makes things easier, but is no longer necessary.

Each Career region now has its own set of music, so you'll hear different songs playing levels in Merrymellow Marsh versus Lemony Thickets.

The settings menu has protections for UI controls to prevent gamepad users from locking themselves out of changing their controls.

A new creature editor, improved UI, and rebalanced levels!

image

The new creature editor has big colorful icons with different creature parts, and walks you through creating your monster from start to finish.

There are other UI improvements throughout the game as well, including an all new settings menu, and colorful buttons on the main menu and other menus.

Vega Churn Twelve has been removed, and its levels have been rebalanced and pushed out to the other regions instead. Keep an eye out for some new levels!

A big fancy ending, credits, fullscreen, gamepad support and more!

A big fancy ending awaits players who complete the final challenge of Chocolava Canyon will be treated to a special cutscene and ending credits! Oh boy!

The credits are now available via a button on the main menu! Players who have cleared Chocolava Canyon will get "big fancy credits" and see some cool stuff they maybe don't want to see yet.

Note: For you eager beavers who already cleared Chocolava Canyon, you can restart Chocolava Canyon with the CHAP07 cheat and beat the final level to see the ending.

For those of you who really don't want to be spoiled -- just don't click the 'Credits' button and you should be fine! Otherwise, depending on your progress you might see the 'big fancy credits' and have the ending spoiled.

There a new fullscreen option available in the settings menu, which enables a borderless fullscreen mode. Let me know if you see utility in any other modes that aren't offered here! I am trying to keep things simple.

Improved Keyboard and gamepad UI support in some places such as the settings menu. You should now be able to switch tabs using the keyboard, by arrowing up to the tab area.

Other bug fixes:

  • The Linux executable now has execute permissions.
  • Fixed a bug where repeat levels sometimes showed up in Career mode.
  • Story completion percent (shown in the chapter menu) now includes epilogue and prologue scenes.
  • Replaced the Godot boot splash image

Cheese pieces, lives, and hardcore levels!

vlcsnap-2024-01-02-16h07m17s452

This release adds a bunch of new Cheese levels to Chocolava Canyon. These levels include new triangular pieces and will force you to relearn everything you knew about Turbo Fat. Good luck!

Career mode now gives you 3 lives -- if you lose all your lives you'll have to start over from the start of the chapter. Be careful!

Career mode's new hardcore levels give you a chance at an extra life... but they're harder, and you only get ONE life on them. They're a worthwhile risk for some of the harder areas!

v0.8101 note: The 0.8100 release had a tutorial bug! I've fixed the tutorials in this release.

New levels, with sharks!

image

This release adds nine new levels featuring sharks. Many of them are in Poki Desert and a few are in the later levels as well.

Sharks eat parts of your pieces, letting clever players reshape them to fit into tight gaps or make high scoring boxes in some new and clever ways. Have fun!

Nighttime levels! Oooh, spooky!

Chapter 3 (Poki Desert) introduces three nighttime levels featuring the new "Night Onion". This onion periodically casts the playfield in darkness, testing both your memory and your strategy.

You must balance fast and efficient play with organizing the playfield in an intuitive way. ...Vertical stacks are a lot harder to work with when you have to remember all the pieces in them!

There are about 10 new levels in total, making use of this clever new mechanic. Enjoy!

A few more minor bug fixes!

#1858 - The player had one more life than intended. This was especially detrimental to the harder rank modes and marathon modes where you're only meant to have one shot.

#1882 - In Starberry Mountain, the player was shown progressing too far. This was a cosmetic issue which affected how the progress board looked -- it did not actually advance the player.
