Assembly Instructions

Important: the third tooth in the top row has a cut, and a bridge soldered onto it. This is intentional, and needed to have a functional badge. Be sure to not accidentally solder the cut shut again, and to not accidentally remove the bridge either!

You can find detailed assembly instructions with pictures here.

K so what do?

The badge has different modes (433MHz radiofrequent, infrared, sound, and torchlight, currently) that you can switch between with the "mode" button.

  • The RF and IR modules can learn and replay commands, saved into one of four slots that you can switch between with the "slot" button.

  • The sound module ignores learning, and only plays each slot.

  • The torchlight modifies its intensity based on which slot is currently selection.

Current bugs

  • The TV-B-Gone functionality to turn off all brands of televisions is not yet implemented. (You can of course learn the power off command of a remote you have nearby already.)

Team

An estimated 500 hours of blood, sweat, tears, and fun was put into this project by the badge team:

Quinten van Kessel - badge art, hardware design, and prototyping

Tom Clement - badge art, hardware design, firmware

Khaled Nassar - firmware, black magic

Evan Mandos - firmware
