This page contains a non-exhausting set of calls that are or may be of interest to Programming Historian activities. They have been compiled to make identifying and applying for funding more efficient for the project team.
- Scouludi Publishing fund at Institute for Historical Research. Up to £1000 to cover the costs associated with publishing. Money is paid to the publisher. Deadline is March. https://www.history.ac.uk/join-ihr/fellowships/awards-bursaries-and-prizes/scouloudi-historical-awards-publication-awards
- Past & Present Society. Up to £5000 to fund conferences and events. They prefer not to be the only supporter of an event. Deadlines in February, June, and October. https://pastandpresent.org.uk/fellowships-and-funding/
- Royal Historical Society conference grants, especially with substantial postdoc or early career involvement. £100-500. Deadlines four times per year. https://royalhistsoc.org/grants/conference-organisation/conference-organisation-guidelines/
- Endangered Archives Programme (British Library). £15,000-£150,000 through three different schemes. This supports projects worldwide that locate vulnerable archival collections, arrange their transfer wherever possible to a suitable local archival home, and deliver digital copies into the international research domain via the British Library. https://eap.bl.uk/
- British Academy Writing Workshops. £20,000. For writing workshops in the Global South. https://www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk/programmes/writing-workshops-2020. Deadline November 2019.
- Citizen Science Exploration Grants. £20,000. UK Research and Innovation invites applications for its citizen science exploration grant. This enables successful applicants to conduct explorative work that will help groups develop opportunities for building citizen science methodologies into their research. This could from the basis of future projects that may be supported through other funding sources, including through a proposed follow-up phase of UKRI funding from 2020 to 2023. Deadline 12 November 2019.
- Arts and Humanities Research Council - Special Call UK-Ireland. £4,000,000. The Arts and Humanities Research Council, on behalf of UK Research and Innovation, invites applications for its digital transformation in humanities research call for collaborations between the UK and the Republic of Ireland. This supports the collaboration between the UK and the Republic of Ireland, allowing for analysis of their different models for digital humanities research and aiming to deliver substantial social and economic impacts.
