Coffee
We get freshly ground coffee from https://www.92degreescoffee.com and http://www.boldstreetcoffee.co.uk/ regularly. You can brew this using the filter coffee machine near the 3D printers.
- Remove the filter holder from the top front of the machine, and dispose of old filter and grounds (in composting bin or main kitchen bin). Give the filter holder a rinse.
- Take a bag of ground coffee out of the fridge. (If there is more than one bag, use the bag on the higher shelf first.)
- Place a new filter in the holder.
- Filters and measuring cup are in the black cupboard underneath the drainer on the right sink.
- If there are no filters left, check in the bottom black cupboard underneath.
- ...And if there are no filters there, speak to Adrian.
- Fill the small plastic coffee measuring pot with ground coffee, up to the 120 mark, and tip it into the new filter.
- If you can't find this measuring pot there's a black plastic measuring spoon with a very long handle which can be used instead: 5 level scoops should be enough for 12 cups of water in the jug
- Empty and rinse both coffee jugs, and fill one with cold water, up to the "12 cups" level.
- Place the other, clean, empty coffee jug in the bottom of the machine.
- Insert the filter holder (with your filter filled with ground coffee) into the top of the machine.
- Open the flap on top of the machine, and pour in the jug of cold water.
- Ensure the bottom white button on the coffee machine is pressed in (this heats the water and brews the coffee). If a red light does not come on above the button, then the entire machine lacks power – press the small round white button on the Sonoff, which is hanging on the back of the 3D printer cabinet (this measures the coffee machine’s power usage, and tracks "time since coffee was brewed" for the LED display on the wall).
- The coffee machine will start gurgling as it heats the water and brews the coffee, draining it into the lower jug.
We currently (early 2023) get our coffee from 92 Degrees at the top of Hardman Street. We get it in one kilo bags, and tend to go with whatever they've got in stock (for variety and to save having to remember the particular blend we use) - a bag costs around £23. You can just drop in and get some on-spec (they get their main coffee orders on Tuesdays and Fridays), but we tend to order via the 92 Degrees trade website. Any of the Organisers will have access to the login details to order more.
There is an AeroPress in the Kitchen, top drawer with the cutlery. (It might be at the back of the draw, so have a good look if you don't see it)
It's pretty straight forward to use but if you're unsure where to start there is a nice comprehensive video of the whole process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugj5OONvGZQ
Instant coffee, including decaf, is usually available in the kitchen.
